Shapes & Sorcery - Player's Guide

Welcome, adventurer! Here's how to interact with your Dungeon Master (DM) and the game world:

Interacting with the World:

• Describing Actions: When you want your character to do something, type it naturally. For actions where success isn't guaranteed (e.g., attacking, picking a lock, persuading someone), try to be clear. A D20 dice will roll automatically for such actions. The DM will be aware of your character's current stats.
• The DM's responses may include basic formatting like **bold**, *italic*, or ~~strikethrough~~.
• Examples of Action Phrases that might trigger a dice roll:
  • I try to open the chest
  • I attack the goblin with my sword
  • I attempt to persuade the guard
• Phrases often indicating an action that will trigger a dice roll start with: i try to, i attempt to, i attack, i cast, i search, i pick, i climb, i jump, i sneak, i persuade, i intimidate, i deceive, i use my, i look for, i investigate, i disable, i open the, i move to.
• Talking & Observing: If you're just talking to a character, asking the DM a question about the environment, or making a general observation, a dice roll usually won't happen. The DM will respond, and might then ask you to make a roll if your statement leads to a risky action.
• Phrases for observation/statements that usually don't trigger an immediate roll start with: i look at, i see, i think, i say, i go to, i walk to, i head towards.

Special Commands (Type these in the input box):

• !stats: View your character's randomly generated ability scores for the current adventure.
• !ask [your question]: Ask an out-of-character (OOC) question directly to the game AI (the Shape). The AI will respond using its base personality.
• !reset: Resets the DM's long-term memory and your character stats for a new adventure with the current DM.
• !wack: Resets the DM's short-term memory.
• !imagine [description]: Ask the DM to generate an image.
• !web [search query]: Ask the shape to search the web.
• !info: Get information about the current Shape.
• !dashboard: Access the Shape's configuration dashboard at shapes, inc.
• !sleep: Saves conversation as an instant memory card.
• !help: Ask the Shape for a list of its supported commands.

Tips for a Great Adventure:

• Be descriptive! The more the shape knows, the better it can respond.
• Use the !ask command if you're unsure about game rules or possibilities.
• Have fun!
